Life conspired against me
Well, as excuses go I am pretty good at creating them. This week I have only manged to get 1 run in, and it was only 25min in length. This week was supposed to be a recover week, so easy yes, but to completely remove running, was not in the plan. Things got in the way, I’ll just call it life. But I am fairly well aware, that if I had really wanted to I would have been able to over come these minor inconveniences and make it out in to the pavement for a couple of runs. But i just used the convenient excuse of “life”.
So I only had 1 run this week, which occurred this morning, and I probably wouldn’t have done that, except that I drank way to much last night, when we went for drinks after work, so car got left at work last night, so this morning I decided to run in and pick it up. Then me and Tan’s went for a paddle in the estuary, the weather changed from a nice warm Nor-west to a freezing cold southerly. The wind picked up quite a bit, and I got quite scared that I’d get blown over. But it was all good practice, and something that I should do more often.
So now, the hard work really begins, I need to bring my base running right up, so for the next couple of months, I’ll be pounding the pavement and the trails a lot. Plus now that I have got my kayak technique working so much better, I’m ready to build up my base kayak fitness, so the plan I am about to implement has 5 -6 run sessions, 3 Kayak sessions and 2 gym sessions in a week. Obviously will change a bit depending on what the focus for each week is.
But I still want to make sure that each session is fun, and introduce different and varied training options into the mix. For example, going to do another orienteering event tomorrow (lets hope that it doesn’t snow).
I am also updating my calendar, I have decided that I need to concentrate on close to home. All the planned excursions to different parts of the country will put a bit of stress on finances.
